[2020] Taking Online Korean Language Extramural Class in UP Diliman
If there is a bright side of not being able to go out freely, for me, that is online classes.
I know many of the students now are forced to take online classes because of the pandemic COVID-19. And not all favors it. I mean many of the students are having difficulty because of online classes. It may be because of slow internet connection, lack of computers/laptops/tablets, or difficulty to focus since students are not physically present. But for me, as a full time employee who works Mondays to Fridays (sometimes Saturday) for 9~12hrs, who also has a 1-year old daughter, this 'online class' opportunity really favors me.
I really wanted to continue taking Korean Language classes now that I am on the High Intermediate level already but since my life is already busy as it is, going to an actual class (physically) really could not fit into my schedule especially the Korean Language centers are mostly located in the Manila area which usually takes around 2~3 hrs one way from where I live. And my time really could not afford that.
I took Korean 5 module in UPD with their Extramural Class 3years ago but that time, I was still single so I could take the difficulty yet. Imagine, the commute was 6hrs (round trip) while the class only took 3hrs. My commute was longer than the class itself but it was okay because I really wanted to take the Korean class and I really wanted to improve my Korean skills.
But ever since I got pregnant in 2018, it was difficult for me to continue taking Korean classes because you know, the commute struggle is real. Until this year, 2020, UPD offered the online Korean Language Extramural Class. It is really a good opportunity for a working mom like me to take classes in the comfort of my home. It really saved my time.
Last September 26, we already started our Korean 9 module class and I am really happy I enrolled. I still wake up early to feed my daughter her breakfast then for 3hrs, I asked my mom to take care of her while I am attending my class. I am glad I was able to concentrate on our first meeting. There maybe difficulty in this online class but I think the benefit of having it is more than the problems we could encounter while doing the online class.
For now, I am just so happy I could continue learning Korean Language, one of the things I really like to do.
